Lucía Aquino is a New Orleans based artist. She uses industrial materials including metal, concrete and house paint. In both her paintings and sculptures she builds abstractly while using everyday symbols and imagery. A focus on texture and small detail is central in all of her work. She began painting through graffiti as a teenager and her explorations into sculpture began with welding while attending UW-Madison, where she received a BA in Psychology.
