Exhibition “Landscapes and Monsters”
Crevasse 22 | River House
PIES, ART, NATURE, HALLOWEEN AND PIES
“Landscapes and Monsters” explores the beauty of southeastern Louisiana’s natural landscape as well as the ecological threats facing St. Bernard Parish due to coastal erosion and rising sea levels.
On the opening day of “Landscapes and Monsters”, the sixth presentation of work by Louisiana artists at Crevasse 22 | River House, a sculpture garden and art center at 8122 Saro Lane in Poydras, Louisiana, the public is invited for a pie sale and raffle benefiting the Creative Alliance of New Orleans and its exhibitions.
The opening of the exhibition “Landscapes and Monsters” falls on the Sunday preceding Halloween, October 28th, from 2 – 6 p.m. Unique pies donated from 13 bakeries and restaurants around New Orleans will be available for purchase.
Admittance to the exhibition opening event is free. Slices of pie and special ciders will be available free to visitors.
The family-friendly exhibition opening event will also feature Cajun folklore through a spooky walk on a trail through the adjacent Torres Woodlands and Robert Tannen’s mod gun re-imagined as the home of the Cajun mythical character Loup Garou. Artist talks, mask making, and live music by The Mark Carroll Trio.
“This opening event follows our now well established tradition of Sunday events designed to offer a variety of experiences for adults and children alike,” said Jeanne Nathan, Executive Director of the Creative Alliance of New Orleans that produces the exhibitions for Crevasse 22 | River House.
Pies for tasting and on sale during the event will feature flavors such as: pecan, apple, mixed berry, pumpkin gingersnap, banana pecan, satsuma ice box, sweet potato praline, swiss chard and goat cheese, smoked bacon and pickled mushroom, pork pie, and traditional crawfish pie.
CANO appreciates the kind donations from local bakeries and restaurants including: Bywater Bakery, Cafe Dauphine, Cafe Degas, Cafe Minh, Cowbell, Emeril’s, High Hat Cafe, Mad Batter Bakery, Shake Sugary, and Today’s Ketch.
