The Creative Alliance of New Orleans is pleased to announce its 5th Annual Art Home Tour on December 17, 2016. The tour will span two metro parishes, from the Holy Cross neighborhood of the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, downriver to Poydras, Louisiana.

The “Downriver Art Home Tour and Sale,” coming on the weekend before Christmas, will include new art exhibitions and smaller curated works and crafts for sale. Eight sites on the tour will include artists’ studios, homes with art collections, galleries, and the River House I Crevasse 22 located at a bucolic site adjacent to the levee of the Mississippi River in Poydras, LA.

The tour begins at the Art House on the Levee in Holy Cross, the studio and gallery of Robert Tannen and Jeanne Nathan, where works by Tannen and other artists will be on view and for sale. The tour continues in Holy Cross with stops at the studios of artists Diego Larguia, Ginna Phillips, and others.

It continues to the Studio Inferno gallery and glass studio of Mitchell Gaudet, and the studio of Erica Larkin Gaudet, both in Old Arabi, which just got approved as a new cultural district. Other artists included in Arabi are Mary Jane Parker, Gary Oaks, and Hayden Reilly.

Also on the tour are the Old Arabi Sugar Museum, and the studio of metalwork artist Luis Colmenares in Chalmette.

The tour ends at the River House I Crevasse 22 in Poydras where a major new nature based exhibition will be on view of works by photographer Tina Freeman, Allison Stewart, and Jackie Bishop. Also continuing on view at the River House are a photography exhibition about the “Spirit of the People of St. Bernard,” and an exhibition of drawings and the Frank Gehry-Robert Tannen designed model for a ModGun post disaster and sustainable modular shotgun house.

This will also be an opportunity to see the full scale prototype ModGun designed and built by Robert Tannen located in the Crevasse 22 Sculpture Garden

A Country Market of curated artworks with refreshments will also be set up at the River House, featuring environmentally themed works by regional sculptors.

“We are excited to encourage visitors to see and purchase works by regional artists, and experience the beauty of the Crevasse 22 l River House site said Jeanne Nathan, Executive Director of the Creative Alliance of New Orleans.
