When viewed from different angles, everyday moments can become transfigured, revealing the depth of layers within. My brushstrokes and palette knife work indicate the range of emotions in the subject, the differing levels of thickness and transparency of paints and glazed reveal complexity, and the range of colors in my collection reveals the delight I take in momentary glimpses of beauty. Having spent much of my childhood and adult career in churches, I take inspiration from stained glass and how they transfigure their subject when light hits them from different angles. Like these sacred windows, my acrylic paintings attempt to reveal both the intended subject and also a deeper universal story that I hope viewers will connect with. I am a member of Louisiana Crafts Guild, a juried organization of Fine Crafts Artisans. I am represented by 318 Art and Garden in Shreveport, LA and was selected by the Community Foundation of Northwest Louisiana as the 2019 G. Scott Griffin Award winner, awarded annually to an artist who has overcome adversity in the creation of artwork.
