Tyla A. Maiden is a New Orleans based Illustrator and Muralist. Born in Louisiana and raised in Virginia, Tyla has always found joy in expressing herself through painting and drawing. She began to take art seriously as a teen after her mother encouraged her to enroll into an Advanced Art Program. Tyla continued to study Studio Art at Radford University and gained a small social media following from posting her unique projects like over the top graduation caps, hand painted custom shoes, and more. Tyla moved to New Orleans in 2019 after graduation where she continues to pursue an professional art career with a focus on public art. Her murals can be found on the streets of Roanoke, Virginia and the French Quarter of New Orleans featuring a common theme of utilising art as a form of activism. Today, Tyla works with non-profit organizations like People for Public Art and Nola Community fridges to uplift the voices in her own community through public art.
